FUNDRAISING GOLF CLASSIC

GOLF CLASSIC A HUGE SUCCESS:
Dripsey GAA held their first fundraising Golf Classic on Friday 11 June in Macroom Golf Club. It was a long day with the first team going out before 8 am and the last team finishing after 10 pm. With nearly 70 teams entered in the Classic the standard was very high with the winning score 57 points. John Drinan from Blackrock playing with John and Mark Blennerhassett from Macroom. In second place on 56 points were a Cork City team of Ger Burns, Peter Flemming & Eddie Walsh. The four remaining GUI prizes all went to local teams with 3 teams on 55 points and 1 on 54. Third place went to Ben Philpott's team where he was partnered by Eugene O'Sullivan and Jerry McKenna. Fourth place went to Ger Manley's team with Paul O'Driscoll and Paul O'Donnell. Fifth place went to Christy Naughton accompanied by Edmond Neville and Heather Randels. The sixth and final GUI prize went to Eddie O'Callaghan, Richie Grace, Mike Herlihy. For obvious reasons the standard was not as high in the non GUI section. The five prizes were distributed as follows with all except the second prize going to local teams.
1st on 51 pts - Diarmuid O'Riordan, Ger Manley, Garan Manley.
2nd on 49 pts - David Thompson, Ronal Farrassy, Trevor O'Driscoll.
3rd on 47 pts - John Hogan, Keith Galvin, Neil Barry.
4th on 47 pts - Aidan Buckley, Vincent O'Connor, Barry Twomey.
5th on 45 pts - Bryan Naughton, Keith Sheehan, Mark Houlihan.
Longest Drive on the 5th went to Alan Maher and nearest the pin on the 11th to Philip Cooper. Many thanks to all those who played on the day and sponsored tee boxes. A big thanks to Kevin & Helen Feeney, Murphy's Electrical, Noel Deasy Ltd and Permanent T.S.B. who sponsored the fabulous prizes and a special thanks to Fitzgerald Funeral Home Macroom for sponsoring the course for the day. There was a lot of work involved in organising this Golf Classic, too numerous to mention but to those who got stuck in and worked endlessly we owe a huge debt of gratitude. Again a huge thanks and well done goes to everyone involved without whom we couldn’t have made it happen.
