CONGRATULATIONS TO DRIPSEY NATIONAL SCHOOL WHO REACHED THE SCIATH NA SCOL FOOTBALL FINAL WHERE THEY WILL PLAY LEAMLARA

------------------------------------------

MINOR FOOTBALL EASTERN REGIONAL LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL:
SETANTA'S 0-11 AGHADA 2 - 4 (BALLINORA 16/10/11)
A thrilling finish to this game saw Setanta's notch two late points to seal a great win and a place in the final. Marc O'Donovan was very reliable in goals and could not be faulted for the Aghada goals, Robert and Brendan Daly were in great form, unfortunately Brendan had to be replaced due to injury. Referee T. Hayes (Eire Og).
--------------------------------------------- U 15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP : DRIPSEY 2 - 8 BALLYGARVAN 2 - 6 (BALLYGARVAN 30/9/11)
Dripsey overcame the challenge of a far more physically built side in a very exciting regional quarter final. This result seemed very much in doubt early on but a young Dripsey team kept fighting back and the result at the final whistle was a just reward for their efforts. TEAM: JAMES COTTER, DYLAN HAYES, JACK DOWNING, BRYAN MC DONNELL, EOIN O'CONNELL, COLIN BROWNE, DEAN O'SULLIVAN, COLM WALSH, JACK CASEY, MICHAEL O'RIORDAN, ADAM CASEY, KILLIAN KELLEHER, SHANE O'RIORDAN. SUB USED: PATRICK O'CONNELL.
------------------------------------- HEARTBREAK FOR JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS
MID CORK JUNIOR FOOTBALL FINAL: COACHFORD 4/9/11
DRIPSEY 1 - 4
DONOUGHMORE 1 - 7
Despite getting off to a good start when playing against the wind, and leading by 1-1 to no score after 10 minutes, Dripsey eventually had to give way to their younger opponents. The crucial period of the game came early in the second half when Dripsey missed a clear cut goal chance to go two goals up and Donoughmore went down the field shortly after to get a fortuitous goal. This spurred Donoughmore on and they ran out deserving winners in the end. For Dripsey this was the third time in 4 years losing the final and the loss of key midfielder Mark O'Sullivan was to prove costly in the end. TEAM: R. MOYNIHAN, J. O'DRISCOLL, C. HAYES (C), L. BUCKLEY, J. CAREY, P. O'RIORDAN, DAN BUCKLEY, T. AHEARNE, D. O'RIORDAN, G. MURPHY, S. MURRAY, DAVY BUCKLEY, D. O'SULLIVAN, D. FOLEY, A. BUCKLEY. SUB USED: S. BURKE, J. BUCKLEY.

U 14 FOOTBALL COUNTY FINAL: (KILMICHAEL 28/8/11)
DRIPSEY 3 - 8 COLM OG's 6 -8

Dripsey lost out in the County Final to a much bigger and stronger Colm Og team. Despite being four goals down at half time this Dripsey team showed what great pride and spirit they have by being the better team in the second half and never giving up. It was a very entertaining match to watch and all those present were very impressed by their guts and determination. Well done to both players, trainers and selectors. TEAM: ADAM CASEY, PATRICK O'CONNELL, DYLAN, HAYES, JACK DOWNING, DEAN O'SULLIVAN, DAVID GALVIN, KILLIAN KELLEHER, MICHAEL O'RIORDAN, JACK CASEY, EOGHAN MAHER, SHANE O'RIORDAN, BRENDAN O'CONNELL, SUBS: AARON O'RIORDAN, CONOR CANAVAN, JACK RIORDAN

JUNIOR 'A' FOOTBALL SEMI FINAL: (CARRIGADROHID 19/8/11) DRIPSEY 0 - 12 CLONDROHID 0 - 8
Dripsey's fine achievement in reaching the Mid Cork Final was marred by disgraceful aftermatch scenes which have no place in any sport. The negative tactics in targeting key Dripsey players for rough treatment throughout the whole game erupted with time nearly up when a Dripsey forward was trampled on while lying on the ground. This led to a player from each side being sent off. The Mid Cork Board will have the task of making sure there is not a repeat of this behaviour in the future. The match itself was close in the first half with Dripsey down a point at half time 0-5 to 0-6 having played against the elements in the first half. Dripsey took control of midfield in the second half and in the end were comfortable winners. Dripsey now go on to meet hot favourites Donoughmore in the final on Sunday 4th September in Coachford. TEAM: R. MOYNIHAN, J. O'DRISCOLL, C. HAYES (C), L. BUCKLEY, J. CAREY, P. O'RIORDAN, DAN BUCKLEY,

--------------------------------------- JUNIOR 'A' FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: COACHFORD 15/7/2011
DRIPSEY 2 - 7 AGHINAGH 1 - 7
Dripsey qualified for the semi final of the Mid Cork Championship with a narrow victory against old rivals Aghinagh. Goals in both halves by Aidan Buckley arrived at vital times and were to prove crucial in the finish. Aghinagh will probably consider this to be a game that got away as they missed many score able chances. Dripsey were far from impressive but had been struggling with injuries in the run up to the game. Dripsey will now have a few weeks of hurling before their semi final clash with Clondrohid. TEAM: R. MOYNIHAN, S. MURRAY, C. HAYES (C), L. BUCKLEY, J. CAREY,

FITZGIBBON HITS CLOYNE FOR SIX: This was a tough championship encounter and while Cloyne won all the physical exchanges it was the craftier Setantas side that had more scores at the final whistle. Pat Fitzgibbon could do no wrong at left corner forward notching six good points, two from frees and four from play. Setantas now face Aghabullogue in round 2. Attention now turns to hurling with the championship down for August 14th v St. Finbarrs.
-------------------------------------- BITTER DEFEAT FOR HEROIC DRIPSEY
U 13 COUNTY FOOTBALL FINAL: (KILNAMATYRA 25/7/11)
DRIPSEY 3 - 4 IVELEARY 5 - 5
History will record a county final victory for Iveleary but those present will remember the heroic display by Dripsey when a man short due to a controversial red card issued to their captain and top scorer with 20 minutes to go. At that stage the match was level but Iveleary soon asserted their numerical superiority to go 4 points ahead. In times of adversity heroes come to the fore and never was this more true than in this match. Calling on all their resources Dripsey managed to level the match and with normal time up the match was level. Most spectators felt the referee would blow the final whistle and give both teams another chance but he played an amazing six minutes extra and Iveleary got 2 goals in the last minute to win the game. TEAM: AARON O'RIORDAN, PATRICK O'CONNELL, JACK RIORDAN, DEAN O'SULLIVAN, BRENDAN O'CONNELL, JACK DOWNING, JAMES COTTER, AARON DESMOND, EOGHAN MAHER, SHANE GODSIL, CONOR CANAVAN, SHANE O'RIORDAN (C). SETANTA'S KEEP THEIR COOL: SETANTA'S 1-10 BRIAN DILLIONS 1-7
MINOR NON EXAM FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL (AET BALLINORA 14/6/11
Kipling once wrote about the virtue of keeping one's head when other's around you are losing theirs, the Setanta team must have been reading Kipling because in this final they kept their discipline under extreme pressure from an aggressive Dillons side. In a torrid game the teams were level 1-6 each after sixty minutes but in extra time Setanta's finished strongly to pick up their first football trophy. The local players Marc O'Donovan, Sean Murphy, Garret O'Leary and Shane Burke all made vital contributions to this victory, Shane Burke also captained the team. Next up is the Championship on Tuesday July 12th against Cloyne.

U 13 FOOTBALLERS REACH COUNTY FINAL:
DRIPSEY 6 - 20 CASTLETOWNBERE 5 - 5 (BALLINGEARY 11/6/11)
Dripsey had a well deserved victory in this County U 13 football semi final played in beautiful sunshine in the middle of the Gaelteacht. Their opponents seemed to be short a few of their players but this does not take anything from the display of a well prepared Dripsey team. They now await the winners of the other semi final between Iveleary and Gleann na laoi. TEAM: AARON O'RIORDAN, PATRICK O'CONNELL, JACK RIORDAN, JACK DOWNING, BRENDAN O'CONNELL, DEAN O'SULLIVAN, JAMES COTTER, AARON DESMOND, EOGHAN MAHER, CONOR CANAVAN, SHANE O'RIORDAN (C), SHANE GODSIL, SUBS: SEAN O'RIORDAN, SHAUN DEAKIN, JAMES KELLEHER, LUKE O'DONOVAN, MARK O'CONNELL.

DRIPSEY 5 - 11 GLEANN NA LAOI 5 - 5
A large group of supporters saw Dripsey U 13 footballers create history when they won the newly created 4 division Eastern Region (Muskerry Seandun/ Carrigdonn/ Imokilly) beating Gleann na Laoi at Kilmurry. On a beautiful evening for football both sides served up a high scoring open game of football. Dripsey were always slightly ahead and their greater ability to pick points was to prove crucial. This victory was a real team effort with all members of the panel contributing along with the management team comprising of Mark O'Sullivan, Paul Corkery, Tony O'Sullivan, Colm O'Riordan. Dripsey led by 3 points at half time and the second half got even better with the ball travelling from end to end with a large number of scores. There was great joy when Eastern Region Chairperson Regina Abernetti presented the shield to Dripsey Captain Shane O'Riordan in front of the large attendance. DRIPSEY 1 - 8 IVELEARY 2 - 8
Another major disappointment for Dripsey following their great performance against Aghinagh the previous week. Dripsey were very disappointed to bow out against Iveleary. To be fair the match was lost in the opening 10 minutes when Dripsey conceded 2 goals. They spent the rest of the match chasing the game and nothing seemed to go right on the night. Exiting both major championships in the space of two weeks will give the club an opportunity to reflect on the season and get ready for the new year. JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP REPLAY:
DRIPSEY 3 - 10 KILMURRY 0 - 7 ( CARRIGADROHID 26/6/10)
It is often said that goals win matches and this proved the case in this game. Playing with the win and 0-6 to 0-2 ahead coming up to the half time whistle Dripsey struck twice in as many minutes with goals coming from David O'Sullivan and John Carey. This left the half time score 2-6 to 0-2 and Kilmurry had a mountain to climb in the second half. A 3rd goal by Gary Murphy early in the second half put an end to the competitive element but in fairness to Kilmurry they kept fighting to the end. The Dripsey defence was very good on the night but goal keeper Ray Moynihan still had to bring off a couple of great saves. Midfield and attack were much improved on the first game and overall the team seemed to have a better balance. Dripsey now await the draws for the next round of this championship as well as the Intermediate hurling. TEAM: R. MOYNIHAN, B. KELLEHER, J. O'DRISCOLL, J. MURPHY, J. CAREY 1-0, J. O'RIORDAN, P. JUNIOR A FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL - O BRIENS FIELD 29/11/09
O'SULLIVAN'S GOAL PROVES CRUCIAL - DRIPSEY 1-11 AGHINAGH 0-11

Midway through the first half Dripsey's ever dangerous corner forward David O'Sullivan got behind the Aghinagh defence and cooly slotted home a magnificent goal to give his side and advantage that they never relinquished. Despite a three month break since their last game Dripsey set a good tempo throughout against what was a very good Aghinagh side. Aghinagh tried everything to bridge the gap narrowing the lead to a point at one stage in the second half but Dripsey reacted strongly building up a score of 1-11 to 0-9 with 10 minutes left but then Mark O'Sullivan received a second yellow card which left them vulnerable, however stout defensive work in the closing minutes ensured their place in the final against Donoughmore or Kilmurry.

MINOR FOOTBALL FINAL (CLOUGHDUV TUESDAY 29/9/09)

SETANTA 1 - 8 KILMURRY 2 - 15

The final scoreline flattered the winners as the match was very tight up to the last 10 minutes. The score was level coming up to the half time break but Kilmurry got a goal with the last attack of the half. They followed this up with an early goal at the start of the second half and the contest seemed over. However, Setanta staged a great comeback and with 10 minutes to go were only 1 goal behind 2-8 to 1-8. However, a very strong Kilmurry team finished with 7 straight points to crown a comprehensive victory. Dripsey players involved Robert Daly, Adrian O'Sullivan, Wayne Dineen, Shane Burke, Pat Fitzgibbon, Jason Fallon, Marc O'Donovan.

DRAMATIC VICTORY FOR SETANTA'S IN SEMI FINAL

SETANTA'S 1 - 9 CANOVEE 2 - 5 (OVENS 22/9/09)

Despite conceding a goal in the very 1st minute of this minor football semi-final Setanta's settled down as the first half progressed and by half time led by 1-5 to 1-3. Setanta's continued their good work in the second half and with Robert Daly limiting the dangerous Darragh Ring to just one point from play for Canovee Setanta's had forged into a four point lead with five minutes left. A goal for Canovee then led to an exciting finish but Setanta's held out and qualified to meet a highly fancied Kilmurry side next Tuesday night in the final. Other Dripsey players on duty were Adrian O'Sullivan, Wayne Dineen (0-1), Marc O'Donovan, Damian Forde, while Pat Fitzgibbon was out with an injury.

U 16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - GOOD WIN FOR DRIPSEY IN TIGHT GAME

DRIPSEY 5 - 8 AGHINAGH 3 - 9 (O'BRIEN'S FIELD 18/9/09)

After a poor start, where Aghinagh looked as if they were going to run riot, Dripsey fought back well to win a narrow victory. While the final winning margin was 5 points Aghinagh will rue the large number of chances they missed, including a penalty at a crucial stage in the second half. Dripsey too will ponder over the number of chances they missed but will be delighted to have advanced to the next stage of the competition. TEAM: SEAN MURPHY, PAUL MURPHY, COREY BRENNAN, CIAN MC DONNELL, ROBERT DALY (0-1), DAMIEN FORDE, JASON FALLON (1-0), SHANE BURKE (1-3), KEITH MC CULLAGH, PAT FITZGIBBON (0-3), ALAN O'DONOGHUE (0-1), BRENDAN DALY (2-0), MARC O'DONOVAN (1-0), SUB USED: AARON HAYES.

MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT FOR JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS

DRIPSEY 1 - 6 BLARNEY 2 - 10 (CARRIGADROHID 5/9/09)

Hot favourites going into this final by most neutrals Dripsey were disappointing against a much improved Blarney team. Both teams had soldered together throughout their respective All Ireland Campaigns last season and there was a friendly banter amongst the rival supporters. Blarney looked much fitter than a tired Dripsey team and at half time Blarney looked out of sight leading 1-7 to 0-2. Dripsey, to their credit, fought back well at the start of the second half and 15 minutes to go had reduced the lead to 3 points. This, however, was as close as they got and a second Blarney goal put the result beyond doubt. TEAM: RAY MOYNIHAN, BARRY KELLEHER, JOE MURPHY, DAVID FOLEY, JOHN CAREY, PAT O'RIORDAN, STEVE MURRAY, TOM AHEARNE, CONOR HAYES, DAVID BUCKLEY, DIARMUID O'RIORDAN, DAVID O'SULLIVAN, MARK O'SULLIVAN (0-1), GARY MURPHY (1-4), AIDAN BUCKLEY (0-1). UNDERDOGS ALMOST PULL OF A SURPRISE VICTORY:

JUNIOR C FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: (CARRIGADROHID 21/8/09)

DRIPSEY 0 - 6 INNISCARRA 1 - 6

n a much awaited encounter between two teams from the same Parish Dripsey performed with distinction against a team regarded as a grade above them. After a close first half the teams were level 0-3 apiece going into the break. Half time through the second half Inniscarra scored the only goal of the game and led 1-6 to 0-3. But those who thought that Dripsey would run out of steam were mistaken and they launched an onslaught on the Inniscarra goal for the last few minutes yielding 3 points and the game finished in a flurry of excitement with Dripsey pressing for an equalising goal. It would be unfair to single out any individual performance for Dripsey on a night the entire team played with pride and passion.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE DIV 3 FINAL: DRIPSEY 2-11 MEELIN 3-14 (MALLOW 22/10/11) Dripsey looked like getting another hiding when they trailed 0-5 to 2-10 at half time. However, with a number of positional changes the team came out with all guns blazing and in the end the failure to take their chances cost Dripsey dearly. However, their second half performance warmed the hearts of their supporters and gave an indication there might be hope for their step up to Division 2 of the league next year. TEAM: J. INTERMEDIATE HURLING LEAGUE:
DRIPSEY 0 - 16 MILFORD 0 - 13 (SUNDAY 2/10/11 O'BRIEN'S FIELD)
Dripsey kept up the momentum in their efforts to reach the league final with a narrow 3 point win against a strong Milford team. Despite the heavy underfoot conditions both sides served up a very entertaining game. Dripsey led by 0-10 to 0-7 at half time and both sides had chances to win the game in the second half but Dripsey held on for two valuable league points. TEAM: J. HOGAN, S. MURRAY, T. AHEARNE, L. DRIPSEY 2 - 10 FERMOY 1 - 12 (THURSDAY 6/10/11 IN FERMOY)
Dripsey came back from the dead to win this top of the table clash by the narrowest of margins. Dripsey started with the aid of the strong wind and went in leading 1-6 to 0-3 at half time thanks to a goal by Diarmuid O'Riordan. Fermoy dominated for most of the second half and with time nearly up they led by 3 points and were looking comfortable. The game changed in the twinkling of an eye when David O'Sullivan scrambled home an Aidan Buckley shot to put the teams on level terms. Both sides had a chance to take the lead but the final chance fell to David O'Sullivan who pointed from the right wing to send Dripsey home with the 2 league points and one foot in the league final. TEAM: J. HOGAN, S. MURRAY, T. AHEARNE, L. BUCKLEY, CONOR HAYES,

DRIPSEY 0 - 14 MEELIN 0 - 15 (SUNDAY 9/10/11 IN O'BRIEN'S FIELD)
Despite getting off to a great start where they led 0-7 to 0-2 after 11 minutes Dripsey's tough week, where they played league games against Milford and Fermoy within the previous 7 days, finally took its toll and they looked a very tired team at the end of the match. Having qualified for the league final after beating Fermoy the pressure was off Dripsey and the absence of a number of played who played in Fermoy depleted the team. However they got a warning of what they can expect in the final as Meelin showed how good a team they are and will prove difficult opponents in the league final. TEAM: A. BUCKLEY, P. CORKERY, T. AHEARNE, DANIEL BUCKLEY, MARTIN O'SULLIVAN, P. O'RIORDAN, D. FOLEY, C. HAYES, MARK O'SULLIVAN, D. O'SULLIVAN, D. O'RIORDAN, J. BUCKLEY, D. O'MAHONY, S. MANLEY, C. NAUGHTON, SUB: DAVY BUCKLEY.

U 15 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: DRIPSEY 5 - 13 BALLYGARVAN 3 - 2 (O'BRIEN'S FIELD 8/10/11)
Having played the same opposition the previous week in the football championship Dripsey eventually pulled away from Ballygarvan to set up a semi final meeting with Western Gaels. As the scoreline indicates Dripsey ability to score points was to prove critical. Ballygarvan will rue their indiscipline as they had 2 players sent off and the red card in the first half was to prove very costly. The Dripsey team was well prepared under coach Markie O'Sullivan and even though they are young they fought well against a much more physical opposition. TEAM: DEAN O'SULLIVAN, DYLAN HAYES, EOIN O'CONNELL, COLIN BROWNE, JACK CASEY, BRYAN MC DONNELL, COLIN WALSH, ADAM CASEY, MICHAEL O'RIORDAN, JACK DOWNING, KILLIAN KELLEHER, SHANE O'RIORDAN, SUBS: JAMES COTTER, PATRICK O'CONNELL, BRENDAN O'CONNELL, EOGHAN MAHER.

SETANTA'S 2 - 9 CARRIGNAVAR 0-11.
The hurling season ended on a high note for Setantas at Carrignavar on Sunday last when they completed the league and championship double following an impressive performance against the home team. The sides were level at half time 1-4 to 0-7 Setanta's having played with the strong breeze however a brave second half display saw Setantas through. The game marked the return of Robert Daly from a long term injury and he captained the team giving a fine display form no 6. Brendan Daly again struck for a vital goal while fifteen year old Eoin O'Connell kept a clean sheet in goals. Other players who contributed to the victory were Pat Fitzgibbon (right half back), Shane Burke (wing forward), Sean Murphy (corner forward) and Garret O'Leary (full back).

DRIPSEY 1 - 13 AGHABULLOGUE 2 - 8

Dripsey held on for a narrow 2 point victory against near neighbours Aghabullogue in a tense exciting game held under lights in Ballincollig. Dripsey started well while playing with the wind and held a comfortable 1-9 to 0-3 lead at half time. Aghabullogue came out with all guns blazing in the second half and an early goal brought them back into the game. The game was very exciting and when Aghabullogue levelled the game with their second goal with about 10 minutes to go they seemed to have gained the upper hand. To their credit Dripsey fought back to go 2 points clear with time nearly up and the game finished in a welter of excitement when an Aghabullogue side line cut landed in the Dripsey square in the last play of the game. Dripsey centre back Conor Hayes bravely caught the ball but took a heavy knock in doing so and with that referee Diarmuid Kirwin (Eire Og) blew the final whistle. COUNTY MINOR HURLING SEMI-FINAL: (OVENS 21/8/11)
SETANTAS 1 - 15 AGHABULLOGUE 1 - 6
The success of Setanta's tactical strategy of double marking Aghabullogue's John Corkery was a vital factor in their fine win. To be fair this was a very good team performance and the mentors must be very happy to get over this stern challenge. Dripsey players on the night were Pat Fitzgibbon, Shane Burke, Garett O'Leary, Eoin O'Connell, Cian McDonnell.

U 14 HURLING COUNTY FINAL: SUNDAY 14th Aug (NEWCESTOWN)
DRIPSEY 4 - 14 ST JAMES (ARDFIELD) 3 - 4
Having recently lost the U13 County football final by a narrow margin Dripsey made no mistake against St James in Newcestown last Sunday night. Playing against the wind in the first half Dripsey started brightly and were comfortable for most of the first half until St James scored 2 goals in the space of a couple of minutes to leave the teams level at half time 1-5 to 2-2. Whatever the coaches said to the players during the break had the desired effect and Dripsey came out of the blocks quickly and built up a big lead in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Dripsey's ability to score points proved crucial and there was little doubt of the result for most of the half. The Dripsey coaches can take a bow for the way they prepared the team. The only negative on the night was the lack of support for such a well prepared team. TEAM: DEAN O'SULLIVAN, DYLAN HAYES, PATRICK O'CONNELL, JACK DOWNING, JAMES COTTER, JACK CASEY, MICHAEL O'RIORDAN, KILLIAN KELLEHER (CAPTAIN), SHANE O'RIORDAN, ADAM CASEY, EOGHAN MAHER, AARON O'RIORDAN. DISAPPOINTMENT FOR INTERMEDIATE HURLERS:
DRIPSEY 2 - 11 BANDON 2 - 12 (6/8/11 IN BRINNY)
Dripsey can be considered unlucky to be out of this years Intermediate Hurling Championship when they lost by a single point to championship favourites Bandon. Despite the loss of 5 players who played championship last year Dripsey put it up to Bandon from the start and were unlucky to go in 2 points down at half time. Bandon on top half way through the second half and with ten minutes left Dripsey trailed by 7 points. It was at this stage Dripsey showed their fighting spirit and with time nearly up Mark O'Sullivan levelled the match. In the remaining minute both sides had a chance to win the match and Bandon held out for a narrow victory. Dripsey now look forward to their football championship semi final in two weeks time. Dripsey returned to hurling after their football championship with a heavy defeat to an impressive Kanturk team. Dripsey followed their usual pattern after football and will need a major improvement before their championship game with Bandon on 6th August. The first half was close with Kanturk leading 12 points to 9 at half time. Kanturk brought Cork sub goal keeper Anthony Nash outfield in the second half and he proved a revelation scoring 1-6. On a positive note for Dripsey Diarmuid O'Riordan returned scoring 1-8 with 1-5 from play. Coach Ger Manley has a lot of work to do with the team in the coming months.

QUISH'S CUP: MUSKERRY INTERMEDIATE HURLING
DRIPSEY 3 - 11 GRENAGH 2 - 10 (COACHFORD 5/7/11)
Dripsey had a tight victory in their opening match in the newly created Muskerry Intermediate Hurling Cup. The concept of this 8 team tournament is to re-establish the local rivalry and this match was a great advertisement for the sponsors. Dripsey played with the wind advantage in the first half but it was Grenagh who made the early running and went in leading 1-5 to 1-3 at half time. The second half was very exciting and the lead changed hands on a number of occasions and when Grenagh goaled a penalty with 3 minutes of normal time left to go 2 points ahead Dripsey looked in dire trouble. However, this was when Dripsey showed their fighting spirit and scored 1-3 in the remaining minutes to secure a narrow victory. TEAM: J. HOGAN, J. CAREY, T. AHEARNE, L. BUCKLEY, P. O'RIORDAN, C. HAYES, DANIEL BUCKLEY, D. FOLEY, G. MURPHY, S. MURRAY, MARK O'SULLIVAN 2-0, DAVY BUCKLEY 0-2, MARTIN O'SULLIVAN, DAVID O'SULLIVAN 0-4, AIDAN BUCKLEY 1-5.

DRIPSEY 1 - 11 BARRYROE 0 - 11
Dripsey gained revenge for last year's defeat when they held on for a well deserved victory against Barryroe. This victory looked unlikely after 18 minutes when Dripsey trailed 0-7 to 0-1 but a storming finish to the half saw Dripsey lead 1-9 to 0-8 at half time. The second half was a war of attrition with Dripsey clinging on to a narrow lead for most of the half. This victory was a welcome boost to the club as a number of key players are carrying injuries and need time to recover. TEAM: J. HOGAN, S. MURRAY, T. AHEARNE, L. BUCKLEY (C), P. O'RIORDAN, C. INTERMEDIATE HURLING LEAGUE: MONDAY 30/5/11
(O'BRIEN'S FIELD) DRIPSEY 1 - 8 EIRE OG 1 - 8
This match was historical in that it was the first ever meeting of the clubs in intermediate but it will be remembered for little else as 2 understrength sides served up a poor game. Dripsey were missing half last year's championship team with less than a week to championship and showed the signs early on as Eire Og raced into a 4 point lead 5 points to 1. Amazingly Eire Og were to only score 1 point for the remaining three quarters of the game and slowly Dripsey edged their was back into contention. The half time score was 5 points to 3 in favour of Eire Og but worse news for Dripsey was an injury to Diarmuid O'Riordan. This seemed to spur on the rest of the Dripsey players as they took control of the game in the second half. The crucial score came from centre back Conor Hayes who sent a 90 metre shot that deceived the Eire Og goalie and ended up in the net. This was to prove vital and Dripsey held on for a deserved 5 point win. On the positive side Mark O'Sullivan played for the last 10 minutes so hopes are high that he will be able to play in next Saturdays Championship encounter with Barryroe.

In the second half Kilbree took their goal scoring opportunities well and despite their best efforts Setanta's could not make the vital break through for the goal they so badly needed and deserved. Having defeated the same opposition very comfortably in the first round Dripsey were very disappointed to go out in this quarter final clash. DRIPSEY 2 - 17 COBH 0 - 14
Many Dripsey supporters were very wary travelling to this match due to the absence of a number of key players. However, the talk afterwards was all about the new players who have come in and the balanced performance of the team in general, highlighted by the spread of scorers. While Diarmuid O'Riordan finished the game with 1-9, 8 players in total contributed to the scoreboard. Dripsey now look forward to a hectic few weeks juggling football and hurling. The half time score was 1-5 to 0-5 in favour of Setanta's whose goal came from Shane Burke, second half goals from Noel Sharpe (two) and Cormac Field eased Setanta's into a good position but a Ballinascarthy side that took their points well were always threatening. INTERMEDIATE HURLING LEAGUE:
AGHABULLOGUE 2 - 13 DRIPSEY 1 - 10 (COACHFORD 24/5/10)
Dripsey can point to he absence of Cork Panellist Mark O'Sullivan and team Captain Pat O'Riordan, but in reality Dripsey lost to a far more committed Aghabullogue team. The final score probably flattered Dripsey because their opponents looked far better in all areas of the pitch. Dripsey were always playing catch up after a poor start where Aghabullogue got two early goals. John Hogan's late goal was no more than scant consolation. The Dripsey selectors now face a major problem to get their best team for the championship match in ten days against Barryroe. TEAM: EOIN O'CONNELL, SEAN MURPHY, ROBERT DALY, CIAN MC DONNELL, CORY BRENNAN, PAT FITZGIBBON, SHANE BURKE, KEITH MC CULLOUGH, JASON FALLON, MIKE O'DONOVAN, BRENDAN DALY. SUBS : SIMON O'CONNELL, PAUL MURPHY, DAMIEN FORDE, BRYAN MC DONNELL, FINNIAN HAYES, DARREN CARROLL, AARON HAYES.

MORALE BOOST FOR SETANTA'S: MINOR HURLING LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL (12-A-SIDE) SETANTA 4 - 8 BANTRY 3 - 5 (BALLINORA 26/11/09)
Following a poor performance against Cobh in the County Championship Setanta's put in a very spirited performance in this hard hitting semi-final game played last Monday. The five Dripsey players who started in this game all made vital contributions to this important victory which means that Setanta's will contest their third final for 2009 against St Colm's.
Dripsey players and positions: Cian Mc Donnell (Goalkeeper), Robert Daly (Full Back), Adrian O'Sullivan (Right Half Back), Shane Burke (Left Half Forward), Pat Fitzgibbon (Right Half Forward).

MINOR HURLERS LOSE COUNTY SEMI FINAL: (CAHERLAG) SUNDAY 18/10/09 SETANTA'S 0 - 10 COBH 6 - 14
The combined minor team of Dripsey and Ballinora finished their campaign with a disappointing performance against a strong Cobh outfit. The final scoreline did not do Setanta's justice but they were certainly off the mark and showed a clear lack of hurling practice. The large time gap since their last championship game plus the fact that they were involved in football championship until recently were major factors in this but, even at their best, they would have struggled against a team of Cobh's quality. Dripsey players involved were Marc O'Donovan, Robert Daly, Shane Burke, Pat Fitzgibbon and Cian Mc Donnell.

U 8 & U 10'S HURLERS:

( SUNDAY 11th OCT IN MACROOM)

The U10's and U8's travelled to Macroom on Sunday last. The U 8's were much too strong for a very weak Macroom side and in the U 10's it was a much tighter contest with Macroom just edging in front. U 21 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP: (WED 30/9/09 CLOUGHDUV)DRIPSEY 2 - 12 KILMICHAEL 0 - 19. Despite a lack of numbers at this grade the 16 men of Dripsey put up a very good fight against a fancied Kilmichael team. The early signs looked bad for Dripsey as their opponents raced into an early lead. The switch of Conor Hayes from centre back to mid field worked a treat and a goal by Kevin Foley put Dripsey into a 1-8 to 0-9 half time lead. The second half proved very exciting and Kilmichael built up a 4 point lead with a large number of frees. A goal by Dripsey's Kevin Buckley near the end promised a very exciting injury time but, astonishingly the referee played no extra time despite a minute stoppage near the end. However, the Dripsey players lost no honour in defeat as they kept the fight right up to the final whistle.TEAM: SHANE MANLEY, PAUL CORKERY, STEVE MURRAY, MARK O'SULLIVAN, JEREMY O'DRISCOLL, CONOR HAYES (0-7), TIM BURKE, SHANE O'LEARY (0-1), MARTIN O'SULLIVAN, ADRIAN O'SULLIVAN, AIDAN MURRAY, JOHN T COLLINS, PAUL O'REGAN (0-4), KEVIN FOLEY (1-0), JOHNNIE O'SULLIVAN, SUB :KEVIN BUCKLEY (1-0)

U 13 HURLING FINAL : (FRIDAY 25/9/09 BALLINORA)

DRIPSEY 0 - 7 GRENAGH 2 - 12

The final scoreline did not do justice to the effort put in by a gallant Dripsey team that came up against a very strong Grenagh challenge. The first half was very close with Dripsey behind by 1 point 0-5 to 0-4 at half time. However, once Grenagh got the vital first goal Dripsey were always on the bad foot. TEAM: DEAN O'SULLIVAN, DYLAN HAYES, PATRICK O'CONNELL, BRYAN MC DONNELL, EOIN O'CONNELL, FIONN EDWARDS, JAMES COTTER, COLIN BROWNE, ADAM CASEY, MICHAEL O'RIORDAN, SHANE O'RIORDAN, KILLIAN KELLEHER, JOHN FEHILLY. DRIPSEY 0 - 8 DONOUGHMORE 2 - 13 (OVENS 13/9/09)

After their heroics in the opening round against Grenagh much was expected of Dripsey in the quarter final against Donoughmore, however, they never really got going and despite having a lot of possession a lack of bite amongst the forwards meant that scores were hard to come by. DRIPSEY 7 - 10 MACROOM 1 - 3 (MACROOM 30/8/09)

Dripsey U12 hurlers added another title to the club's roll of honour with and impressive victory against an emerging Macroom team. The standard of hurling was good despite the wet conditions and the ground hurling was particularly impressive from both sides. The win will have pleased Dripsey coach Diarmuid O'Riordan, who has spent a lot of time coaching this group over the past couple of years. The cup was presented to Dripsey Captain Kelly Griffin by the Treasurer of the Mid Cork Juvenile Board Martin Griffin who is also Secretary of the Dripsey Club. HISTORIC FIRST FOR JUNIOR 'B' HURLERS: 26/8/9 (O'BRIENS FIELD)

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP DRIPSEY 4 - 9 GRENAGH 0 - 5

Dripsey Junior B hurlers created their own bit of history when they became the first team from the club to win a 'B' Hurling Championship match. Credit must go to their manager, John Hogan, for the amount of work he has put in with the squad over the past couple of months. On the night he had a squad of 27 players to pick from and the team performed well above expectations against last year's beaten finalists. Dripsey led 2-2 to 0-2 at half time and their fitness told in the second half to eventually finish up comfortable winners. TEAM: PETE COTTER, PAUL O'DRISCOLL, LIAM BUCKLEY, PAUL CORKERY, SEAN CORKERY, JOHN BUCKLEY (1-4), STEVE MURRAY, SHANE O'LEARY (0-2), AIDAN MURRAY, BARRY O'REGAN (102), MARTIN O'SULLIVAN (0-1), DAVID O' MAHONY, CHRISTY NAUGHTON, RAY MOYNIHAN (2-0), JT COLLINS. LADIES FOOTBALL: LEAGUE FINAL 18/7/11
Dripsey 2 - 3 Douglas 7 - 7
Dripsey travelled to Ballinlough on Monday night to play Douglas in the league final. Dripsey had a strong team out on the night but were unable to compete with a strong Douglas team that included two senior players. Grading of teams in ladies football needs to be looked at as this is very disheartening for a young Dripsey side who are only on the go for a few years. Hope all these players will stay together and come back to give a good account of themselves in the Championship. Well done to all the Dripsey players and their mentors who tried their best on the night. Congratulations to Douglas on their great win.
----------------------------------- LADIES FOOTBALL: Junior C league: Dripsey 2-9 Castlemagner 3-5
Dripsey traveled to Castlemagner last Tuesday night for the league semi-final. They came away with a well deserved one point victory. Dripsey had a great first half and had all the play but failed to take their scores. Castlemagner came out fighting in the second half and really put pressure on the Dripsey backs. A goal in the last five minutes left just a point between the sides. Somehow Dripsey held on and will now face Douglas in the league final. Well done to our new players Sarah Dineen and Eimear McSweeney who played very well. Team: C.Feeney, L.Kelleher, E.Looney, C.O'Sullivan, E.Thompson, L.O'Gorman, A.O'Sullivan, C.Looney, A.Crowley, N.Byrne, E.McSweeney, M.Corkery, E.O'Riordan, S.Dineen, A.O'Connell, G.O'Donovan, M.O'Leary, S.O'Sullivan.
-------------------------------------- LADIES FOOTBALL: The Dripsey ladies have reached the semi-finals of the Junior division four league. Wins over Douglas, Ballyphehane and Donoughmore B and a draw with Passage put Dripsey in a strong position. Dripsey travelled to Castlemagner last Thursday night feeling confident but they were given a lesson in football from a strong Castlemagner team. On the night, Dripsey were missing some key players and the team took a long time to settle. After a strong second half, Dripsey were unlucky to lose by five points. Congratulations to Caitlin Looney and Marie Corkery who have been selected as captains for the 2011 season.

LADIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL: (BALLINCOLLIG 31/8/10)
DRIPSEY 1 - 11 AGHADA 2 - 10
Dripsey lost out in a fantastic advertisement for Ladies football. The game swung from end to end with some great points being scored by both sides. Dripsey led 0-6 to 0-2 at the break having played with the slight wind. Aghada stormed back into the game with 5 unanswered points to take the lead for the first time. Dripsey were playing catch up for the rest of the game but despite camping in the Aghada half for the last 10 minutes could not reduce the lead any further. TEAM: M. O'SULLIVAN, M. HAYES, L. KELLEHER, E. FOLEY, E. LOONEY, L. O'GORMAN, C. LOONEY, A. CROWLEY, M. CORKERY, E. BUCKLEY, H. WALSH, N. BYRNE, S. MC CARTHY, E. MC CARTHY, E. O'RIORDAN. SUBS USED: A. O'SULLIVAN, J. CROWLEY,

LADIES FOOTBALL: DRIPSEY 4-10 MAYFIELD 0-2
Dripsey travelled to Mayfield on Monday night 12th July for the first round of the Junior C Championship. Dripsey were well on top for the first half but found scores hard to come by. A Marie Corkery goal helped settle the team. Goals from Annette Crowley and Helena Walsh set them up for a great win. Mary O Sullivan played in her first championship game for Dripsey and she pulled off some fine saves. We wish Lucy Kelleher a speedy recovery.

LADIES FOOTBALLERS:
The Junior Ladies Footballers had their first league game away to Passage on Saturday last. After a great first half leading 1-7 to 0-3 at half time a young Passage team came back strong in the second half. Dripsey were really up against it with only 15 players able to travel on the day. Lack of fresh legs really told in the second half, losing by a goal at the final whistle. Well done to Amy O'Connell, Erin Looney and Joanne Crowley who played their first Junior match having had great success last year at U14. Most importantly all the girls had a great day out.

LADIES COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL

DRIPSEY 2 - 4 TADGH MC CARTHAIGHS 2 - 6

The result of this game went down to the last seconds of extra time as Dripsey pressed hard to get the goal that would have won them the match. Unfortunately it was not to be and the team bowed out at the quarter final stage.
