Towards the end of 2004 they surveyed the local area to see if there would be support for a new club in the area. The response was extremely positive and a public meeting was called to discuss the setting up of a new GAA club in Dripsey.   At this meeting which was attended by 120 people, a huge majority agreed that an AGM should be held early in 2005 to give the club a structure and seek affiliation to Coiste Chontae Chorcaì CLCG.

The Cork County Board consulted with the Mid-Cork Junior Board, Inniscarra GAA Club and a submission committee from the Dripsey Club.   Finally in late March the green light was given to Dripsey, the dream was realised and the club was for real.   The County Board's decision was a good one as it brought dozens of young people in the Dripsey area into the GAA for the first time.

Four years have now passed since the Club's formation and these have been years of unprecedented success at all levels. In 2005 two junior football championship titles were garnered including a historic County Junior 'B' success. The big breakthrough in hurling followed in 2008 with victories at divisional (Muskerry), County and provincial levels.
